The Need for Speed on Phuket’s Best Luge Track

Hanuman Luge happiness

Phuket Luge Adventure

The salty sea breeze still lingered as I strapped on a glossy helmet and gripped the handle bars, poised for acceleration. Yet instead of the usual jet ski or speedboat ride, I was preparing to race down Phuket’s newest thrill attraction an undulating 1,100-meter luge track slicing through thick jungle. Nestled into rainforest hills near Central Festival Phuket, Hanuman World Adventure Theme Park recently unveiled their gravity-powered luge sled, which is already running to rave reviews, for its adrenaline pumping speed.

Unlike rollercoasters relying on cranks and chains, luges simply use downhill momentum to reach pulse quickening velocities over 60kph!which will leave you wanting more as you progress on this ride. After the safety briefing, you will climb aboard the slender sled on wheels with your helmet on your head, hold on tightly as the course begins to take place. With an  initial straightaway  downhill you will quickly ramp up your speed rapidly. Many thrilled shrieks as soon as you turn to laughter as you cruise through hairpin bends and quick dips revealed verdant vistas of swaying palms and vine-draped cliffs.

What sets luging apart from other thrill rides is the interactivity that the riders use subtle torso tilts and light braking to steer around sweeping curves and controlled velocity. While the winding one-kilometer track at Hanuman Luge accommodates first-timers and intermediate thrillers alike, its amazing corners and tight turns offer enough challenge to satisfy even seasoned thrill seekers, to complete the course. This customizability gives luging unique appeal from ages 6 to 80 years old, with no previous health concerns or injuries.

According to the park manager, their new luge course took six months to construct across rugged hillsides adjacent to their famed jungle zip-lines, Roller coaster zip-line and sky bridges. Weaving through the forest with zero environmental impact required complex engineering features. The resulting world-class ride features seamlessly integrated safety barrier walls, sleek rails following the contours of the land, and emergency stopping barriers that are never visible amidst unspoiled vistas.

Gliding through tropical scenery at such euphoric speeds fused outdoor adventure with adrenaline rush unlike any other Phuket activity I’d tried. Far more dynamic than jungle trekking yet more secure than whitewater rafting, luging struck an ideal balance to satisfy my thrill-seeking appetite. After reluctantly concluding my final run, I spied lines of eager tourists waiting for their turn to test the luge. If the frenzy of visitors flocking here just weeks after opening offers any indication, Hanuman Luge’s gravity ride is set to become Phuket’s hottest new attraction!
